Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein may be in jail or lock-up in Hempstead, NY as I write this. Dr. Stein and her running mate, Cheri Honkala, were arrested yesterday for “blocking traffic” as they sought entrance to the presidential debate at Hofstra University. I have been doing a series of posts on my interview with Doctor Stein. It was pretty amazing. She answered questions on details of the Green Party platform, that the campaign was not emphasizing like land value taxation or community ground rent as it is also known. Her arrest has generated a bit more coverage, but at least right now when I google Jill Stein, I see a picture of Henry George with Forbes underneath it. Since Dr. Stein answered some of the tough questions, I thought it only fair to throw her a softball that would let her talk about her program in some detail. Here it is.
Green New Deal. Has a pretty nice ring to it.
I also asked her some of the unserious questions that serious presidential candidates have to answer.
My friends at Dogs Against Romney will be very happy to hear that Bandita rides inside. We probably don’t have a surplus of transplant surgeons, so I’m hoping that the public would be tolerant of Dr. Richard Rohrer, Dr. Stein’s spouse, not devoting full-time to his duties as First Gentleman. Noah and Ben are out of the house now, but we know what happens to a lot of twenty-somethings nowadays, so we can’t rule out that we might end up with at least one kid in the White House. Doctor Stein has something on that issue too. She may be in jail herself right now but she is worried about a generation that is being crushed by overwhelming student debt and would prefer that we bail out students rather than banks.
