If you have had any doubt that the massive election fraud is mishegas, Kent Hovind embracing the cause should be a comfort. He was at it last night (December 4).
Kent is telling Christians what they need to do. There is about six and a half minutes of theological, philosophical, and historical warmup. Then we get to “Here’s what’s happening..”. Kent then calls on all his followers who know anything about any voter fraud to widely report it. Anybody who was involved needs to repent.
“I’m calling on all my folks who watch my channel – Shine the light”
Kent devotes seven minutes to election fraud including some Fox clips about the situation in Georgia.
The Innocence Project
Good job Kent. There has never been a right-wing conspiracy story that you haven’t liked at least a little, so you have done your bit for this one. Can we have Bible study for the remaining half hour or so of the video? Not tonight. Let’s devote twenty minutes or so to talking with Paul John Hansen and Brady Byrum about Kent’s half-billion-dollar lawsuit and his general innocence claims.
The balance of the video was taken up by a discussion that Jared Estes had started by tossing $20 in the pot. It was about celebrating Christmas. Kent has a pretty practical view. Sure there might be some pagan origins to the date, but if people want to celebrate the birth of Jesus, why not? The super chat seems to be an unannounced deviation from the channel’s renouncing of monetization.
I don’t doubt Kent’s sincerity but I have to wonder whether linking the election fraud appeal to his case is a kind of Hail Mary pass for the strategy that Brady Byrum was focused on – a pardon. I don’t think the “p” word was mentioned, but I think it is not so far back in his mind. Given the current situation, it is not an entirely preposterous possibility. The President is transactional and rewards loyalty. If Hovind inspires a good number of people to take some sort of action on the “election fraud” and they link it to looking at his innocence, what is one more pardon to sign with the stack that has accumulated?
Could Be A Thing
Kent Hovind OFFICIAL has 173k subscribers and has had over 23M views since it started in 2013. That is not too shabby. AronRa who debated Kent on the Nonsequitur Show has 251k subscribers and 54M views since the channel started in 2006. Have to wonder where Kent would be if he had spent those years on Youtube instead of in prison.
As I write this Kent’s vote fraud video is at 5,500 views. There are a lot of ifs, but if it takes off and gets some love from people actually connected with Trump, who knows? President Trump has been complaining about how mean the IRS has been to him, why not do something for Doctor Hovind?
Hail Mary Pass?
Using that trope in connection with Hovind, who is not very favorable to Catholicism or sports is kind of irresistible. He is fond of sports analogies but seems to favor basketball and baseball. On the Catholic side, there is somebody who has argued that Kent is a Jesuit.
Peter J Reilly has been covering the Kent Hovind story since 2012.
