Robin did not sign the 2010 return.  Terry signed Robin’s name to the 2010 return.  The tab for tax alone was almost $90,000.  The address used on the return was the address of the family business and they did not forward mail to Robin.  Robin first learned of the deficiency when California garnished their wages.

Over and over again courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging one’s affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everybody does so, rich or poor; and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands: taxes are enforced exactions, not voluntary contributions. To demand more in the name of morals is mere cant.
