Occupy Wall Street Anniversary Focuses On Robin Hood Tax

Why I find this interesting is because of the way it represents the battle for the populist high ground.  The Tea Party has made a comeback with its IRS scandal narrative and its last gasp against Obamacare.  There does not seem to be an equivalent on the Left.  The financial transactions tax might be promising in that regard, although I have to admit that my evidence for that is highly anecdotal.

Over and over again courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging one’s affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everybody does so, rich or poor; and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands: taxes are enforced exactions, not voluntary contributions. To demand more in the name of morals is mere cant.
